Your Millionaire Mindset – The Forces That Influence Mental Mindsets
July 16, 2009 | Leave a Comment
It is often said that your current level of prosperity is directly linked to
your personal mindset. If you believe that it’s somehow wrong to be wealthy or
that you are in some way unworthy of wealth, your current standing is a
reflection of those thoughts.

Fortunately, it has been proven that the brain, your brain, is highly
malleable. You can influence your patterns of thought and change the results you
experience in your life. It’s also important to recognize that others can
influence your thoughts as well.
Understanding the forces that influence mental mindsets is absolutely vital
in order to experience change in your own life and to resist external attempts
to alter them as well.
The Media: the biggest influence on your thinking is the media. Turn on the
morning news and look at the nature of the content. They feed to all the bad
from the previous night. You’re starting your day with a negative outlook. Any
“positive news” is barely recognizable. If something really, really important
happened last night, you’re going to hear about it. Do yourself a favor and
switch off the news.
Friends and family: Good to have but they should come with a warning label.
Think about the friends and family that have your ear most of the time. What
kind of world-view do they reinforce? Do they talk about how bad the world is or
are they forward-thinkers who seek to make a difference while encouraging others
to do the same? The person with the most access to your ears is probably
influencing how your life looks, whether you realize it or not. If this sounds
like you, seek out new friends and mentors who speak according to the world-view
you support. You don’t have to throw the others to the curb, but be aware of
what type of influence people close to you have and block out their ideas if
those things don’t work for you.
Yourself: How you see yourself will have the biggest influence on the life
you experience. This is known as your self-image. Different from self-confidence
a self-image is the picture of yourself you’ve formed in your mind. It’s
possible to have a high degree of self-confidence in a destructive self-image.
If you’re unsure of your own self image, seek out a coach or other professional
to help you explore your own thoughts and craft a new self-imagine if change is
necessary.
There are many forces influencing your mindset and the good news is that
they’re all under your control. Someone can’t change the way you think unless
you give them permission to. Understand how your mindset impacts your life and
take positive action to align it with the self-image you know will serve you.
