Napoleon Hill’s Secrets Of Success – Do You Have A Pleasing Personality?

There’s an old saying that you can catch more flies with honey can vinegar. Simply it’s easier to attract people if you are pleasant than if you are not. You are more likely to achieve your outcome if you smooth the way than if you bulldoze your way through
Napoleon Hill identified the importance of having a pleasing personality. Not just outwardly but inwardly.
We know that we have about 30 seconds to create a good impression. So everything we do is critical. Our dress, our personal grooming, our smile, our voice, and our expression. If anything is out of order we may lose a valuable chance to connect with that person.
Outwardly a pleasing personality will encourage others to engage with us, to agree with us, to offer better service, to want to be of assistance, or to want to do business with us.
Obviously we need to offer much more than a superficial smile and greeting, but it’s a start. It’s a foot in the door. If I turn up to a business meeting with a facial metal stud and casual clothing in a professional environment. I will immediately create a level of resistance to me.
Like it or not we are being judged. If you are a pro skateboarder or avant-garde artist, a level of flamboyance is expected. But for most of us we need to present in a way which allows us to seamlessly blend into our business environment.
The pleasing personality must be genuine and be extended to all who we meet. If you are pleasant to managers and rude to assistants, you won’t get mush co-operation.
In order to present an out ward pleasing personality you must cultivate an inward pleasing personality. In short you must like yourself, or learn to like yourself.
Create an inner warmth, an inner enthusiasm and an inner self confidence. For some these qualities are natural but for most people we have to learn these skills and feelings. We may need to release past beliefs and replace them with new beliefs which help us not hinder us.
A simple way to achieve this is to create an internal dialogue which re-enforces the feelings which we want to project. Most of day is spent in internal conversation, the quality of this conversation will determine your success, and will in time be reflected in the way you communicate with the outside world.
