In Search of Self Worth
August 9, 2008 | 1 Comment
Built within each of us is a deep need for self worth. We desire to be loved and accepted. Often that need governs our behavior and is the primary source of all our emotional pain. So explains Robert S. McGee in his astounding book The Search for Significance.
We devour self help books looking for ways to heal our wounds. We try to fix ourselves for God when God wants us to come to Him so He can grow us into His image.

But we only learn a true Christ-centered view of ourselves when we understand and apply the truths of the Bible. God says His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Sometimes we find that knowledge but we don’t know how to apply it.
So how do we go about finding self worth in God?
Our self worth is acquired in our relationship with Jesus. We are worth the world to Him. He created us. He died for us and redeemed us.
We run around doing a million activities a day to make ourselves look important to people. We want to impress them because we want them to like us. We ignore the truth that our value is not based on our behavior or approval of others, but on what God’s Word says is true of us.
God created us in His image. That doesn’t mean we are gods. He gave us a spirit to fellowship with Him and to worship Him. He gave us certain moral, ethical and intellectual abilities.
I like how the Nelson Study Bible describes our being made in God’s image. It says in ancient times an emperor commanded statues of himself to be placed in remote areas of his empire. The statues would be symbols declaring that these areas were under his power and reign.
In the same way God placed people as living symbols of Himself on earth to represent His reign. Isn’t that beautiful? We are to reign over all that God has made.
God created us to glorify Him. It’s only when we live in dependence on Him that we will be happy. He made us. He knows our quirks, our strengths and weaknesses. He allowed them in our lives to achieve His purpose in our lives.
I am not good at accounting. I tried it. I wanted to achieve a healthy bank account. I worked in the office during the years my husband and I operated a business. I hated all that paper work. I wanted to dream. God knew that. He made me. When I finally allowed myself to dream and write I felt satisfied. And when I wrote Christian articles and stories I felt fulfilled. For me this is my outlet to glorify God.
It’s as I glorify God that I find meaning in life.
The Bible says we are what we think we are. Our behavior is a result of who we believe we are. When we believe we are what God says we are then we will reflect His love, grace, and power. However, if we base our worth on our own abilities or the approval of others, then our behavior will reflect the insecurity, fear and anger that comes from such instability.

Why does the revival tarry? It is because God’s
people tarry to obey the powerful command of
the Lord in Rev. 18:4. This is the most powerful
revival message of the Lord to his people in our time.

As in the days of Lot, it is now. Lot was not interested
to leave Sodom. God sent two angels to rescue him.
One of the angels said to him: “Flee for your life sake …”
Just like as Lot, God’s people are not interested to leave
the great Babylon, but finally they must flee for
their life from there.

God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge
because their preachers have rejected knowledge.
Hosea 4:6-11. Instead to preaching the truth of the
Assembly of God, they have preached lies about the
Assembly of God. The Pentecostalists have abused
the expression “Assembly of God” and used it as a
name of their church.
The coming revival, a nameless revival
