Looking to make some changes? Setting the stage for intentional change is key to attaining the results your after. Below are a few ideas from “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. These are not new ideas but they are very powerful and proven to effect the change that you intend.

Recommended: Mind Power Development Tool

In the book the Author States:

“The subconscious mind will transmute into its physical equivalent, by the most direct and practical means available, any order which is given to it in a state of belief, or faith that the order will be carried out”.

Transmute: To change from one form, nature, substance, or state into another; transform.

“It is important to encourage the positive emotions as the dominating forces of your mind, and discourage and eliminate negative forces. A mind dominated by positive emotions is favorable and becomes more favorable to the state of mind known as faith.”

The Author goes on to make these two additional points that I will expand on below and offer a specific exercise you can implement to begin to build a life by design or implement a small change.

1. Faith which leads to belief can be obtained by auto suggestion.

2.”Thoughts which are mixed with any of the feelings of emotion constitute a “magnetic” force which attracts other similar or related thoughts.”

Let us use these two ideas from above to give you a tool you can use on a daily basis to direct change that you are intentional creating. First off, The term auto-suggestion or self suggestion is really just a technique used to instruct the subconscious mind. Athletes use it before a performance. Leaders use it to solidify and unite a following, you may have heard this in the form of a chant or a pledge. Also religious institution implement this form of communication to create and develop faith and belief.

It is a well known fact that people believe that which they repeat to themselves. Sometimes this is audible and sometimes in the mind, “self talk” as it is called. This does not necessarily mean what is being said is true it just means that people believe it. For practical purposes lets assume that what a person believes is also regarded as true to that person.

For example: Let’s say a young boy was raised to believe dogs were a nuisance, varmints if you will. He would witness his father, on a daily basis, scolding any dog that came around. “You Varmint”. He would say. “Get outta’ my yard”! He would yell.

Now as this young boy grew up he would feel that dogs were varmints. He may call them names or yell at them. Whenever he saw a dog he would have internal dialog about the dog and how it was a nuisance. Because of this originating experience with his dad, we are assuming he adopted the same belief, this young man will have by now witnessed a fundamental truth in the point we are covering.

From one thought ” dogs are varmints” this young man by now will have accumulated a store house of supporting facts from his experience. He could tell you story after story of really naughty dogs. He could give you examples he had remembered over the years about all the rotten things dogs do and why you should yell at them and kick them.

This is what I refer to as a passive example ( maybe not for the dog) of auto-suggestion. The young man in the story was not intentionally trying to develop the belief that dogs were varmints. The result that can be experience when we intentionally auto-suggest an idea can be much faster and more powerful. Want to Try?

Name a belief you want to possess. I will use a belief of getting along with others. Here is my auto-suggestion statement: I always get along with others.

I am great at getting along with others. I possess every virtue and skill, inside me right now, to get along with others. I enjoy getting along with others. I don’t always agree with everyone I meet, but I do respect their beliefs. Getting along with others offers me great freedom and opportunity. In relationships finances and life. I get better and better every day at getting along with others.

The auto-suggestion technique requires that you repeat the statement first thing in the morning and then at night. You can read it out loud and repeat it throughout the day if you like.

Let us Know Your Experience.
