10 Things You Can Do Today to Make it Amazing!

Let’s face it - we all have some really good days…and some not so good days. When you are feeling challenged and find yourself in need of an attitude adjustment, consider these 10 tips to turn your day around and make it amazing.

10. Make you a priority.
In this busy, crazy, hectic world we all are a part of, it is easy to get caught up in life stuff and doing things for everyone else while not paying enough attention to our own needs. Commit to set aside some time just for you. Think about the exercise and complete as many of these as possible or necessary to shift your state of mind. Who knows, maybe some of these tips will even become habitual!
9. Just do it.
Putting things off doesn’t make them go away. Inactivity, procrastination or avoidance will only make us stressed out and feel worse about ourselves. What is one thing you can do right now that will give you a huge sense of accomplishment and you can cross off your to-do list? Maybe you need to make a to-do list? Now just do it!
8. Clean or organize that spot.
Hopefully, now that were feeling energized and in motion, spend 15-30 minutes cleaning or organizing that place that needs it the most. Build some momentum here from your actions and feel great about getting it done.
7. Take a walk.
Even a short time outside to breathe and take in the scenery can have an enormous effect on clearing your mind and improving your attitude. Maybe take a different route, an area you don’t usually see often or pay much attention to.
6. "I’m Terrific!"
How many times a day are you asked "How are you?" or "How have you been?" What is your usual response? The very next time someone asks you, answer with a very genuine "I’m terrific!" or "Doing awesome, thanks!" and see how that makes you feel and how they respond! It is so much more mutually uplifting and refreshing then "OK." "Getting by." "Not Bad." or "Hanging in there."
5. Smile.
In our day-to-day, it is sometimes easiest to just auto-process one another. Instead, choose to smile and make eye contact with the people who pass your way and notice what changes in you, even if they are non-responsive.
4. Attitude of gratitude.
The self-talk taking place in our heads often does a fantastic job of reminding us of all the things we don’t have or we want to be different. Grab a pad of paper and start free writing a list of all the things you can think of that you’re grateful for. Time yourself if you want, even allowing only 5 minutes or less. It’s usually astonishing how many items one can list in that time and just how much we can take for granted in our thinking. Shift what you’re focusing on and go back or add to the list from time to time.
3. Pick up the phone.
Sending an email here is not an option! Actually pick up the phone and call someone you care about, perhaps you haven’t talked in awhile, and remind them how special they are to you.
2. Read.
Settle into your favorite place and pick-up that book or magazine you’ve been wanting to read and haven’t gotten around to. Allow yourself to just be lost in it for awhile and enjoy.
1. Treat yourself to a little something.
Or maybe a big something. It’s not about extravagance here, but instead that it is truly a treat for you nonetheless. Maybe it is an item you’ve been wanting to look for on eBay or simply a bowl of your favorite ice cream-you’ve earned it!
It is the little things we do over and over again everyday that have the most impact on our attitude and well being. Just shifting our focus, paying more attention to our thoughts and taking action can have a dramatic impact on our self-esteem, how we feel in general and especially, how we relate to others. The choices are within us all. Make today your most amazing day!
